Bluestacks: android apps in your pc

With the Beta of Bluestacks you can use Android market apps on your Windows Os.
All beautiful.

But today I'm a bit annoyed and I noticed that this software is bloated as ****:
  •  2 processes run on StartUp
  •  + ~400 MB of ram used
when you don't use Bluestacks.

So...
Erased.

If you wanna try it: http://bluestacks.com/

Imho the best way is a Virtual Machine solution: virtualizing Android ICS. (the only problem is the internet connection... that doesn't work in my case, there is a post of 2 weeks ago)

Ok, a decent Metro Start Menu for Windows 8

Hey Microsoft, this is a functional Metro Start:

And wow! Customization! It's clearly not a Microsoft product! (Right click on the Orb)

You can use it like the old Start Menu, but this is with the original Metro.

Download ithttp://stardock.cachefly.net/Start8_setup.exe

StarDock offers us a ""beta"", a preview of its program.
I think that after the ""trial"" period (September 2012) this add-on will be available only by purchasing it.
So... other third party softwares for fixing internal problems...

I think that with only this "big fix" the most issues of Windows 8 are "patched": you can reach apps/programs list, etc... you have everything at your fingertips (and eyes).

Uhm... yeah, my idea of "gadget-abled" apps could integrate better Metro and Desktop...

By the way (I have only Windows 8 in mind in these days :P  Sorry!):
Ah,.... Metro Apps section could be better... Ms think about it!

Customize your Windows 7 Start Orb

After the Windows 7 3rd themes post...
... another way to graphically customize your Windows 7 is changing the Start Orb, the graphic of the Start Button (dropped in Win8, but still there in Seven).

You can do this using this tool:

Windows 7 Start Orb Changer:
http://kishan-bagaria.deviantart.com/art/Windows-7-Start-Orb-Changer-v4-153001999

  • download (it's a .zip with a link)
  • follow the link and download the software
  • start the software (run as Administrator!!)
  • I set "replace by editing resources" in the advanced options (> button)
  • select your "orb graphic file" (look below) and patch
  • explorer.exe  restarts and et-voilĂ , your new Start Orb!

Choose your favorite, directly from DeviantArt:

I like Win 8 orb "big arrow", "Win8 orb square" and the minimal "Little square"

Motorola Milestone (Droid) Froyo, some little works to do

It's time to put something new on this old Motorola Milestone (Droid in the Usa).

So, what do?

First point, a new launcher, the Froyo's launcher is *blearhg*.
For me the best is Go Launcher Ex for some reasons:
- better app drawer
- creation of directories in the app drawer and in the desktops
- gestures (if you want)
- possibility to hide dock bar and status bar (notify bar)
- multiple desktops (like original android home launcher)
- multiple docks
- widgets scaling
- choosing the grid dimension on the desktops
- choosing how icons appear on the desktop (black label, alpha label, no label etc...)
- tons of other stuff

This launcher works great in this phone (that has low ram)

A post about this (free) launcher>
 http://www.lollercoasterlab.com/2011/11/new-launcher-for-your-android.html

Second point, rooting phone.
With the "root" you can use your phone as a super user, with this utility you can choose to grant SU permission to an App (Titanium Backup, etc...).

This link is very clearly:

Third point (I'm in this point), trying the overclocking.
Poor battery! But, it's only for testing purpose.
This link is very helpful:

(There are many overclock utilities in the market)

PS: Use at your own risk, I do not take responsibility for your actions!

Next steps? A custom rom I suppose...

...and a list of the MUST HAVE apps...
