This is a very good website with themes/skins/icons/wallpapers and tools to personalize your Windows:
WinCustomize
This is Midori skin:
Xbox360 skin (I made the window bars more translucent):
The skins were applied with WindowBlinds, the demo is free for 30 days, but the full software costs 20$.
Works like a charm but I can't understand why this software works in background (there is a system process active), patching graphic in memory I suppose...
I'm looking for something free...
Something like... Universal Theme Patcher
Ok, lets try some theme found on the web (Deviantart, etc...)
If you have used WindowsBlinds and you have edited the skin, reset your customization selecting and applying the default skin and then use Universal Theme Patcher, sometimes is useful to do this when you change skin too!
The use is simple, these are the first steps to do only one time:
1) run the different exes depending on your system (x86 if you have a 32bit Windows, x64 if you have a 64bit Windows, use WIN+BREAK to view your system details);
2) the software tells you if is ok patching some files, press OK (the number of files depends of your system);
3) patch the files with the "patch" button (you can restore them);
4) restart the computer.
System patched. Now you can use third parts themes!
Copy them in the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes directory like this image:
(The theme is Elune with its directory) |
To select a theme use the default method and select the new theme (or double click the theme file).
Remember:
1) run the software with admin privileges;
2) the software patches the files, there is no process working in the background (like Wb);
3) make a backup if you want before patching files...
Good job for your customization!
Post as a comment your preferred theme!
